Summary
Nearly fifteen years after meeting in New Orleans during relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina, Robby and Jack have built a life together in Pittsburgh and have adapted to a new normal amid the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic. But when Dr. Adamson falls ill with COVID, Robby must fill his mentor's shoes and manage the Emergency Department as Adamson's condition deteriorates. When lockdown restrictions are finally eased to allow houses of worship to resume in-person services, Jack encourages Robby to attend his nephew's bar mitzvah, and Robby finds unexpected comfort in Jewish rituals he had long ago abandoned.
