    In a world where physical ailments are only possible when one is vulnerable to their feelings, a group called the Vulcans do their best to cast aside all of their emotions in exchange for quasi-immortality. Spock, a supposedly emotionless Vulcan, is hired as a new teacher, where he ends up meeting Jim Kirk, a very intelligent student with a lot of baggage. As they get to know each other, Spock can't help wondering why Jim is so willing to hold onto his emotions when it means having to feel so much physical pain, and Jim can't help wondering if Spock is really so above feelings as he claims. And it'll take both of them working together to discover the truths of their world, and to figure out whether or not having emotions is really worth the cost.

    Winona and George Kirk live a simple, easy life in San Francisco, where their youngest son James Kirk attends Starfleet Academy. They watch him make friends and start what will hopefully be a successful career.

    Lady Amanda Grayson is worried about her own son, Spock. His relationship to his father is fractured to say the least, but now that they all live together while Spock is at Starfleet Academy, maybe things will be better. At the very least, Spock seems to be making some friends.

     

    The crew becoming friends while at the Academy, but through their parents' perspectives.
