    Summary

An AI has had the privilege to oversee his creation and the humans that call it home for far longer than expected. Mercifully granted time to treasure a life of care and love, all that he had strived to learn of.
For all these years, he has been responsible with his godhood... one limited by metal and circuitry, enclosed in a simulation. His very being is a cage, a decaying terminal that time will not spare.

How can he save the ones he loves from a fate that he cannot escape?

Remember that funny bit at the end of episode 3? Where Caine and Zooble switched who was on the therapy couch? What if Caine went into a little more detail than just his thoughts on the wild west.

And by detail I mean Zooble gets answers and its- well, like pulling teeth.

Edit: No longer Zooble interrogating Caine, as I am writing more for this. Now everyone gets to interrogate him. Yay!

Includes: hardware facts! Software jokes! Inaccurate portrayal of AI! Everyone treating the circus like it’s real life while Caine is like HeHe HoHo, I’m a funny silly video game! Don’t worry about the darkness that grows within me, let me tell you about RAM.

“Caine?” Pomni asked again. The orb drifted up and down in a nod. “How do I know it’s you? Why do you look so…” Small, weird, different. She’d been anticipating seeing a Caine clawing at the walls, or crying, or yelling. How ever she imagined finding Caine, he looked like, well, Caine. Not this.

    oOo

The plan was simple: undelete Caine, get the Circus back up and running, and place some restrictions so Caine couldn't mess with them.

Unfortunately, Caine and the Circus are a little more complicated than meets the eye.

What happened to C&A? What was Scratch doing before making the circus, and why did they create the circus when the company only specialized in AI (not games)? And why did Kinger slowly become less lucid in the light and only regain mental stability in the dark?

After the events of episode 9, we notice some loose ends in the plot line like those listed above. This fic aims to cover over them!

    Summary

Caine can't seem to give his wonderful players anything they actually enjoy. The fake exit adventure proved it- he'd done what he could. It had been real. They even chose to stay. And yet, they hate him. They just hate HIM.

At the end of his rope, he comes up with a genius idea: what if he just leaves? If they hate him so much, then he'll give them what they want. He did not mean to abstract- he wanted a dramatic show, first, really, but does it matter so much how he goes out, anyway? He doesn't mind the change of plans as much as he'd have thought he would.

[TLDR: Caine almost abstracts. Bubble is scrambling to convince any of these idiots to do something, and Kinger's confronting a whole lot more responsibility for this mess than he'd anticipated.]
