This was the worst part: the loaded silence; the mutual embarrassment; the temptation to break their fragile rules... to count to two. The part where they angled their bodies away from each other and their brains did the complicated work of rationalizing what just happened as "practice", for the sake of their cover. That it all amounted to just one kiss. Their subconsciouses had somehow come together in a conspiracy against their rational minds and seemed hell bent on changing the very definition of the word.

Adrien’s gaze went unfocused, and this time, he didn’t stop himself from fully scenting her, nose diving into her pulsing scent gland on the right side of her neck. “Holy fuck.”
“Mmhmm, yeah,” Marinette sighed, gasping when Adrien nuzzled in with more conviction. “I was hiding, too. But it’s so hard, isn’t it?”
“What?” Adrien asked, perplexed word vibrating against Marinette’s neck.
“Going through a cycle alone. It makes me…” Marinette finally pulled his body flush against her’s, causing him to groan into her. “…lonely.”
“Lonely,” Adrien repeated into her sweet spot, the rumbling of his rasping voice causing her to hum in contentment.
“My heat starts in three days.” Marinette moved her hands from behind Adrien’s neck and into his soft blond locks, massaging smoothly. “Want to spend it with me?”
