It had happened so fast. She had shot up from her sleeping pad in the rover, awakened by a loud rumble from the direction of the camp. “Stay here,” she’d hissed at Madi as she threw on her jacket and snuck out the rear doors, rifle in hand, closing them quietly behind her. The glow of fire had lit up the forest from the clearing a quarter mile away. She had run towards it. Deer and rabbits and birds had all run past her, fleeing in the opposite direction.

Her eyes were on Clarke when she said it, and Clarke hesitated for the longest moment she felt she could afford before she inclined her head again and went to turn for the door - her mind was racing - what else could she say, what else could she do -

They turn the corner of her street and their pace slows, ever so slightly. Frank speaks softly, nudging Karen out of her thoughts:

Karen, Foggy, and David find themselves pretty far gone at Josie's of an evening, when somebody shows up to make sure they get home safe (of course he does). Some level of angsty conversation ensues.

As he rotates, his eye catches on a familiar head of tawny curls and he shouts, “REMUS!”
Miraculously, Remus hears his name over the racket on the platform, grinning as soon as he sees James. “Hey! How was your summer, you absolute dickhead?” he replies in a raised voice, making his way towards James against the flow of foot traffic.
“Dickhead? Excuse me, I –”
“You’re excused,” Sirius' voice says from a window on the train. He pokes his head and about half of his torso out, looking like he somehow managed to go the whole summer without his mother forcing him to get a haircut, and James is concerned that he’s going to fall out of the window. “Hi.”
“God, Sirius, thanks a lot, I was going to say there’s no excuse for you,” Peter interrupts from behind Sirius, shoving him to the side so that he can peer out the window as well. “Always fucking stealing my punchlines, aren’t you? And butchering them, too, I might add.”
