Fot the bingo square: "Mmm. Good morning to you, too."

One hand and one foot at a time, he climbs up the crane, making his way towards countless unknown dangers, because that's what he does. That's who he is. So when a second flicker of light catches his eye, just a random glint from a random balcony, Buck doesn't even slow down.

The crack of the shot registers in his brain only a fraction of a second before a searing pain explodes in his right side, just below where his vest is tugged up from reaching for the rungs above his head.

He doesn't even have time to scream.

For the bingo square: heat wave

All of the officers on scene have their weapons drawn, trained on the threat the moment they walk through the door, but every single one of those guns is aimed far, far too close to Buck for comfort, and Eddie wants to scream.

To scream at the man holding the four inch blade of a hunting knife to Buck's throat.

To scream at the cops that are aiming their service weapons at his husband and daughter.

To scream at the universe to give them a fucking break, just for once, because he can't handle the thought of losing Buck again.

"You," Buck sucks in a shaky breath and reminds himself that he knows what real love is now, that he never again needs to settle for some cheap imitation, "You never loved me. You don't hit the people you love. You don't send them to the hospital with broken bones and blood loss and concussions."

Buck recognizes the twitch in Kyle's jaw, knows he's pushing, knows that now is the time that he's supposed to make himself small and apologize and promise to do better.

But he's not that man anymore.

    "Buck? You in there?"

Eddie walks in cautiously, mindful of the danger that could be waiting inside but unwilling to just call in the cops and wait until they show up. So he sidesteps the tipped over dining chairs, avoids the shards of glass scattered on the floor, and moves deeper into the apartment, checking in the bathroom and behind the kitchen island before peeking into the living room. When he finds nothing downstairs, he makes his way up to the loft, back pressed against the wall as he moves.

No sign of Buck upstairs, either.

With his heart beating wildly, Eddie reaches for his radio.

    "Cap, we have a problem."

    Summary

Athena opened the door to them with a radiant smile, and a hug for each of them. It was that time of the week where Buck, Eddie and Chris join her and Bobby at their home for a family dinner. Sometimes May and Harry joined them, too, when they weren’t busy with school, or whatever else. But usually they had their own days for family dinners, and this day was for Buck, Eddie, and Christopher.
Eddie was holding the box they had prepared for the two whom they both saw as parents. The only good parental figures either of them have ever had, with the exception of tía Pepa and abuela for Eddie. The parents they had longed for since childhood and were so grateful to have found. Especially now that Bobby was back, and very not dead. Bobby was officially retired, the lab experience and his recovery had made him want to spend his time at home, being there for his found family in more ways, looking after the grandkids when needed, having family dinners with each of the smaller branches of the family they had all built for themselves.

    ...

Or, Buck and Eddie have some special news for their parental figures. Bobby and Athena are thrilled, and worried.
Day 4 of 25daysof911mas. Prompt: Matching Pyjamas.
