”I know they’re not like me.” Will’s chest hurt. His face ached. The reality of his life-long secret being told to everyone, especially the one who made him realize said secret.
Will could see his mother’s worried gaze boring into the side of his face, but Will’s eyes never left Mike’s. Even though his vision was blurred by tears, Will could see Mike’s burning gaze, feel it boring into his skull.

“I really hope this works, Will,” Mike says, and then he presses his lips to Will’s hand.

"Does that make me your favorite then?” Mike says, way too proud of himself.
“Hm,” Will pretends to consider, lifting a finger to tap against his lips. Mike’s eyes follow the movement, enraptured. “Not sure yet,” he continues, smug look on his face. “You’re gonna have to convince me.”
Will is now leaning his head on his hand, staring up at Mike so that they’re fully facing each other now. Mike stares back at him, and his cheeks are burning—his only hope is that his blush isn’t that noticeable under the dim lighting making its way through the window. Wil’s gaze flits down somewhere below Mike’s eyes, for one, two, three full seconds before returning back up to meet Mike’s own. And Mike—he’s pretty sure he’s going to spontaneously combust at any moment now.
Mike Wheeler tries not to lose his mind over Will Byers. He thinks it's going well, all things considered.

"Car guys are really stingy with their cars," Will explains. "they don't really let others drive them. I just assumed you'd freak out if I even sat behind the wheel."
"Hm, well," Mike begins. "for starters, I like you and trust you more than any of the other idiots we work with."
Will's heart feels as though it completely sunk to his gut, before the beating starts picking up again, very frantic. "Really?" He manages to get out, while it feels like he's going to choke on the thick air.
"Well, yeah?" Mike raises a brow. "You're the only one I'd actually get in trouble for. I like hanging with you, and I think you do too, even though sometimes you act like you hate me."
Or: Mike and Will go to a company party. Will only gets a little jealous.
