Summary
Ryland Grace is an AP English teacher and Simon is the oceanography teacher at William T Sherman High School. Their classrooms down the hall from each other and their students cant help but notice them always finding excuses to see each other. One student in particular picks up on an interaction that clearly isn't normal . The betting pool starts from there. It reaches the entire school, with every grade’s student body putting in more and more money with each interaction. Even the teachers are in on it.
How long will this game of chicken go on? Who will walk home with lots of dough?

“What’s up, Simon? How’d you enjoy last night? Did you like the barbecue?” Colt says, using his grip on Simon’s shoulder to make him spin on his stool so they are face-to-face. Colt smiles widely.
- Simon grabs hold of his shirt and pushes him back against the wall, crashing their mouths together. His hand sinks into his blonde hair, pulling him closer.-
“Yeah, it was nice,” he confirms, clearing his throat. He straightens on his stool, fidgeting with the frayed edge of his apron.
“Yeah? What about my brother? How did you get along with him?” Colt asks. “I know he’s a bit,” he gestures in the air with his hand, “you know? But he’s a really nice guy when you get to know him.”
-Ryland is pliant beneath him, panting hard into Simon’s mouth as they move together. His skin is so hot against Simon’s that it burns. A moan rips out of his throat as he comes deep into Simon, squeezing his ass hard, keeping him in place as Ryland grinds up into him. There’s gonna be fingerprints on his ass tomorrow, for sure.-
“Yeah, yeah, he’s nice,” Simon replies, looking down at Colt’s shoes.

Simon is more convinced that this is hell. He will be forced to relive his last moments alive for eternity, his blood wasted to slick the throat of the eel. He will be chewed, dissolved, discarded, entombed, chewed, dissolved, discarded, entombed for infinity. He tries to exercise some will in this cycle by falling back into unconsciousness. After all, he figures, if this truly is his punishment, some devil will ensure he’s awake to feel his death.
It is not a devil who wakes him. His eyes open to see a light lift him from the blood, pull him from the grasping hands of the damned.
“Angel?”
The angel does not respond.

On their way back to Erid, Rocky and Grace encounter some weird blips. They've been watching Scooby-Doo and are getting a bit bored so might as well do some sleuthing of their own, right? Who knows, could be someone else trying to fix the Astrophage problem. And it's on the way! How convenient! They aren't prepared to find another human, who is living a blood soaked submarine. In space.
