Summary
V takes a swallow of her tequila and can’t help but notice it’s Johnny’s preferred brand. For some reason that, of all things, really sets her off.
“If you spent the past fifty years in a coma,” she blurts out. “Regrettin’ to hell and back everything that went down ‘tween you and the person you cared about most, an’ then by some miracle, you actually get the chance to say what you wish you coulda said back then...”
She’s aware it’s gotta be the liquor talkin’ at this point, but fuck, ain’t no one else in the goddamn world she can vent to about this shit. “I mean, why the fuck would you pass that up?”
It registers, then, that Kerry’s starin’ at her strangely, mouth slightly agape. “Wha—what’d you say?” he stammers.
Just then Johnny snaps into being, interposing himself between her and Kerry. “Not another fuckin’ word, V.”--
A series of vignettes largely focusing on V and Johnny's relationship and its progression over time. Each chapter is a standalone short story, arranged roughly in chronological order. The events therein are original to this fic, but are placed within context of where they would fall in the canon.

And she could die again soon if she can’t separate her mind from the digital ghost of a rage-fueled rockerboy.
This fic features an alternate lifepath for V and explores themes of depersonalization, the body, and what it actually means to be a rebel and activist in a cyberpunk dystopia.
