Summary
When Makoto asked why Byakuya would ask this of him, his answer was simple.
“I don’t know of anyone else who would actually go along with something like this,” he said, brushing the question off with a wave of his hand, “you lack any self-preservation as it is, so I knew you would agree to it.”
They’ve known each other long enough for Makoto to recognize a Byakuya-compliment when he heard one. Translation: you’re the only one I can count on for this. You’re the only one who agreed to do it.
Makoto was just supposed to play pretend fiancé for a day.
