Summary
Rumi was born with her mark.
It's nothing odd; most people are. It just means she's younger than her soulmate - that they're out there, somewhere, and she doesn't have to wait to see what it says. It means that someone in the world was born without the words on their wrist - nothing special, either.
It means she came into this world with someone waiting on her.
And to Rumi, that makes all the difference.
Or: Rumi knows her soulmate could never love someone as monstrous as her.

Summary
'Elain pressed her palms against her eyes, trying to block out the lingering images. Why did it matter to her? She had made it abundantly clear that she wanted nothing to do with the mating bond or with him. She had no claim on Lucien Vanserra.
So why did the thought of him touching another woman make her want to scream?'
-
Set post ACOSF, Elain wakes up in Velaris to feelings that aren't her own, and deduces that Lucien must have been with someone else, and she felt it through the bond. Unsure why this bothers her so much, after a very tense Solstice dinner, she decides to confront him and gets more than she bargained for from our resident fox boy.
