  Summary

  Evan Rosier was good.
He went to Mass every Sunday. He helped Dad out on the farm. He studied as often as he could.
But when the chance to head up north for the summer arose, he couldn't resist. And it was there, then, that he met Barty.
Barty Crouch Jr. was everything Evan never wanted to be. Bad news. A lost cause. Best steer clear of him, the neighbors said.
Evan wanted to. God knew he did; Barty frightened him, with his dangerous habits and battered fists and rotten mouth—so sweet, so soft. So tempting it hurt.
