Their eyes met, and Sirius's looked utterly haunting. Terrifying, even. But not in the sense that he was scared for his life, but in the way that beauty was sometimes so enchanting that it ought to be feared. At least Remus thought so.
No, Remus wasn't scared for his life; he was scared for something much more dangerous when handled recklessly, and it was currently beating out of control between his ribs, as though trying to reach Sirius, aching to be closer to him.
He stood still, refusing to give in to the notion that being closer to Sirius would be better. He needed that spot, and the only thing in his way was a rich bastard who was here just to prove a point: Sirius Black.
So what if he also had a pretty face and legs for days, if he had a rotten heart?
There will be no admiring such an awful person, and if someone catches him staring at a certain pureblood, well, he was also glaring, wasn't he?

Summary
Just them and falling in love in the spiralling heat of summer. A summer of secret glances, small boundary breaking, the smell of sunscreen, and desperation coating their skin, their words, and their hearts.
It shouldn't even be this easy with Remus, giving into the gravity, succumbing to the fact that he will forever orbit the star that was Sirius Black; but it was. After six years of knowing them, loving Sirius was as easy as blinking.
Sirius knew Remus trusted them. They did. But sometimes Remus trusted them...more. Like an imbalance of what is usual for him, like he can't help it. As far as they knew, Remus was more than just a tinted glass house filled with unwanted stowaway thoughts; that's what it looked like, but he was more of a stronghold of what he thought were shameful secrets, but secrets all the same.
A summer of trying to pick the other apart, to get a glance inside the other's soul. A summer of nothing but hesitance, but a whole shit-ton of impulsiveness.

Sirius receives a letter from his mother at the start of fifth year, demanding him to find a pureblood girl to marry. Except he had just discovered his feelings for his best friend, and he definitely didn’t want to marry a pureblood girl. But it isn’t as though Remus liked him back, Right?
In which patronuses play a big part in this, Lily actually has personality, and the plot is slowly looming over your heads until it hits you like a truck.
