This is kind of a retelling of the scene in the grove where Carol wants Mika to kill a deer but she doesn’t. I was kinda thinking like “what if a malnourished and not so sane lady forced Mika to kill her despite her fear of killing humans?? What happens if I change the trajectory of Mika’s life lol🤪” I don’t go too deep into it but I do touch on it bc I thought it was interesting how Mika can’t kill humans while Lizzie can’t kill walkers and how that dynamic can shift (at least in Mika’s head) if Mika is forced to kill; I hope it’s a nice read!

At night, once her husband is fast asleep and the lights have long since dimmed, the distant honking of Lisa’s saxophone having quieted hours ago, Marge lies awake in her bed. She holds herself like she holds her daughter. There is a hole in her household. It started small, growing in the wooden floorboards slowly but surely. It is the place dirty pacifiers and empty beer cans and crumb-filled donut boxes go. It's gone unaddressed, unnoticed and un-treated for years now, just beneath the couch. They all know it is there. They all know that one day it will swallow the house whole.

Mama. Bathroom. Stuck. Too quiet. Help. Isha’s signs were disjointed and frantic, her shaking hands unable to form complete sentences. But Sevika caught on, and the pizzas were discarded on the hood of the truck as she scooped up the auburn haired girl and ran inside.
“Jinx! Damn it, Jinx, open the fucking door!”
Isha began to cry, ugly gasping sobs that ended in pained groans. Sevika seemed to know something she didn’t. She was scared. Her mama was in there. Hurry! She wanted to scream. The monsters are getting her again! You have to hurry! They hurt her!
