“Yeah, well, what about your bandage covering your eye?” Chuuya raised an eyebrow. He'd been meaning to ask that question all day. “I don't see any weird scars, and your eye doesn't look blind or anything.”
Dazai remained silent for a few seconds. Chuuya thought his question would go unanswered, but before he could change the subject, the brunette spoke.
“...This world is hell,” Dazai's eyes darkened. “It's horrible, where our very existence is meaningless. Why give him the pleasure of seeing it with my two eyes when I can survive seeing with just one?”
Chuuya frowned. That was... deeper than he had expected.
“...Why did you take it off then?" Dazai looked at him, his eyes regaining their shine and filling with tenderness.
“Because I've found something worth looking at with both eyes.”

“Who was that painting for?” Mike started, apropos of absolutely nothing. There wasn’t any polite way to start this conversation, he supposed, and was almost proud of himself for ripping the metaphorical band-aid off.
Will’s confused smile dropped, leaving only his bewilderment in its wake. “What?”
“The painting,” Mike said, through gritted teeth, and his reasoning for being angry slipping out of his brain like it was water in a sieve. He wasn’t even sure what he was so angry about, anymore, just that Will had left and Mike had waited while he had moved on.
