Summary
Another silent second passed, and she knew why. It was like a confession, one of the last things she had to get off her chance before they could move forward. She didn’t just not like her, she actively despised her. She prayed for her downfall vocally to her best friend and filled pages upon pages of her diary about her envy. It felt like lying to not admit it, even if it was so different now.
“Yeah. I know.” Angeline replied, but it wasn’t with bitterness. Still said with the grace of a bunny, even when she had the right to be confused or repulsed.
“You knew?” Jamie felt budding shame mix into her churning stomach.
“You’re not the best actor in the world.” Angeline breathed, another smile blessing Jamie with relief.
“So why were you always so nice to me still, if you knew..”
“Because I thought you were so cool. Even though I didn’t know why you didn’t like me, I assumed if you just got to know me… Maybe you’d change your mind.”
Angeline shimmied closer, a playful gleam in her eye. “It worked, didn’t it?”

Summary
Angeline began to reach for it with a smile, before she stopped.
“Wait, why are you giving this to me? This isn’t to, like, cash in a favor?” She pried.
Jamie’s grin faltered for a moment, but they both knew the question was warranted. With the way Jamie’s acted towards her the last few months of their friendship, Angeline knew better than to take her kindness at face value.
Jamie looked at her hair-self for a while, calculating something maybe?
“No tricks, no schemes, no strings attached.” Jamie said finally, attempting her most sincere smile. “You deserve nothing less. I’m sorry you can’t trust me enough to take a measly hairbrush. I’d hesitate too if I tried to give myself a normal shoestring. Could be a snake I expertly painted.”
Angeline let a quiet smile spread as she took the brush. “Thank you, Jamie.”

Summary
Shortly after Nevermore reopens its doors, Wednesday and Divina are assigned a project in which they must cast a time-traveling spell. That would have been fine, if Wednesday had managed to follow instructions in class.
Instead, Divina is reverted to her infantile stage—body and all—and leaves Wednesday with no choice but to look after her until she can bring forth a solution, which means Enid is along for the ride, too.
What no one realizes is that Divina is still somewhat conscious and has a trick up her sleeve to play baby Cupid for her two babysitters.
