Summary
When dusk falls, its lengthening shadows still unfamiliar to Minfilia’s eyes, the Scions scatter throughout the city. Some venture deeper within the Tower’s crystalline walls; others to their rooms in the Pendants; and others, like Thancred, to the Wandering Stairs for a drink.

“You are worse than the healers,” she groans in dismay, flopping back against the pillows. “Really! I appreciate your concern for me, but they did an excellent job. My wounds barely hurt at all!”

Summary
Minfilia shuts her eyes in vain attempt to block out the Light breaking through purple boughs above them. The ground is hard beneath their shared bedroll, and Thancred’s chest a solid wall against her back. He says it’s safer, warmer, to sleep like this. He says he doesn’t want to carry the weight of two bedrolls.
