“Failure, huh?” Bakugou scoffed. It was clear that despite his earlier ambivalence that he really did put some thought into Shouto’s question. “For me, it feels like you let everyone down. Now no one wants anything to do with you. You ask them how you can do better, and they just tell you the same shit they always tell you. You’re stuck, you’re alone, and you don’t know what the fuck you’re doing wrong because no one gives a damn about you.”
“It’s like you’re stuck in a place where no one can find you, right?” Shouto asked.
“I guess. And no one ever tries to help you because why should they? You mean jack shit to them anyway,” Bakugou said derisively.
“What if I helped you?” Shouto blurted out.
“Are you looking down on me?” Bakugou growled. “All I did was answer your fucking question. Don’t throw yourself into other people’s shit when you can barely handle your own.”
In which Shouto reflects on his past, present, and future during a series of chance meetings with Bakugou.
