Summary
Lan Wangji came to the Burial Mounds after the Siege to see for himself the state of things after the massacre. Fighting through the pain from his recent whippings, he did his best to find something, anything that could be saved.
Upon seeing a feverish A-Yuan, he opted to return to the Cloud Recesses and care for the child. It was then that he realized A-Yuan was not the only one left in the massacre when he couldn’t move after approaching the child. He felt something firm and warm shifting beside him, bracing him closer towards it.
“...Lan Zhan…”
He met eye to eye with Wei Wuxian, who was looking at him with an unreadable expression. Lan Wangji’s heart filled with too many emotions at once, unsure if this was a dream. The huge arachnid leg sprouting from Wei Wuxian’s back, stirring faintly, only made the moment feel more unbelievable.
The pain from his back finally caught up to him, making him faint.
“Lan Zhan!”
