Summary
By the time Shouta comes home, he has gone through a million ways to tell Hizashi that they need to take Hitoshi in. Not because he's worried that Hizashi will refuse but because it's a one in a lifetime opportunity and deep down, Shouta is a little shit.
So he needs to make this funny. Because the situation in itself is not and they need just a little bit of humour in this.
And he thinks he has the perfect way all figured out.

Summary
Shouta feels frustration bubble up inside of him when Hitoshi pulls out his lunch in the classroom and doesn't make a single move to join his classmates. Again.
"What are you doing?" Shouta asks, refraining from pinching the bridge of his nose, even though the urge is strong.
"Eating lunch," Hitoshi gives back and going by the minute uptick of his mouth he knows exactly how much he's getting on Shouta's nerves right now. "I'm not here to make friends after all."
His words make Shouta's chest tight; to hear Hitoshi speak like that always hurts more than Shouta expects and for a moment he wishes Hizashi was here. He's always better at getting their son out of his head, making certain he understands that he's loved and cherished and it's something Hitoshi clearly desperately needs right now. And it’s something Shouta feels horribly underequipped to proved.
But this time help comes from an unexpected side.

Summary
“I want to adopt,” Shouta says, and frowns when Hizashi only mildly shakes his head.
“We’re not getting another cat, we have three and that’s enough,” Hizashi decisively says and okay, that’s Shouta’s mistake.
"I think we should get foster licenses," he rephrases and maybe, in hindsight, that wasn't the best way because now Hizashi's head flies around, eyes wide and a look of pure terror on his face.
"Who are you and what have you done with my husband?" Hizashi asks and Shouta supposes that's fair.
