Summary
It's been a few years since Jason had left Hawkins when he finds himself called back for a funeral. A lot had happened between the worst year of his life and the year 1991, but despite the distance he still struggles with what his upbringing had hammered into him.
The day of his father's funeral is also the day his car breaks down at the side of the road during an ice storm, and who else pulls over to help, but Eddie Munson—the guy he'd lead a manhunt for while under the influence of his previous church—urged to help Jason by his ex-girlfriend, Chrissy Cunningham?
The storm is too nasty to say no, and Chrissy seems happy to see him, years after she broke up with him.
How will he deal with his previous misdeeds while trying to keep away from sinning himself right into the grave, around two people who test his limits constantly? Around two people who he finds himself drawn to, despite his guilt?
