Summary
Midnight Mysteries is set in the shadowy streets of Playfair City. Here, humans coexist with “Playthings”, sentient toys who, despite being living beings, are often treated as second-class citizens. Cases of them going missing or turning up dead are common, and the police rarely investigate.
Ten years ago, a coalition of Plaything villains launched a violent uprising seeking equality. Their methods were brutal, and both humans and Playthings suffered. That day, remembered as The Hour of Joy, saw the fall of the long-ruling Playfair dynasty. Now, young Billie Strechkin seeks his missing father, aided by the detective Bernard Bubbaphant and psychologist Rosie Bearhug, his childhood friend. Deep down, the two critters are still haunted by a past tragedy that shattered their once-close friend group. As Rosie seeks to heal old wounds, and Bubbaphant hunts for long-buried truths, the trio uncovers a shocking revelation: the Prototype is still alive... and may be tied to the darkest case they've ever faced. -
