The bathroom was quiet that night, the blue lights above them cast a soft glow across the water, and the sounds from the rest of the compound had faded into something distant and indistinct. Tomorrow’s mission was waiting for them, but neither Yuu nor Mika seemed willing to talk about it yet.
They sat facing each other in the bathtub, close enough that their knees occasionally brushed beneath the water. Mika had barely spoken since they came in. He had spent most of the time staring down at the surface, watching the ripples disappear and reappear whenever one of them moved.
