Summary
At the Velvet Curtain, people pay for fantasy, control, comfort, pain, relief.
The arrangement is supposed to be simple: professional, negotiated, contained. Instead it becomes a slow collision of obedience, trust, class resentment, and the kind of tension that builds long before either of them is willing to touch it. As Vi rubs a dry towel too harshly over her face, she mumbles into it the same thing she said before. “I didn’t know I could do that.”
Cait’s chest is warm again for a new reason, and then all of her is warm. Vi is still gripping the towel, so Cait tries to counteract her tension with a soft kiss to her forehead. “You can do it again,” she whispers against Vi’s skin. “If you’d like to.” Vi’s breathing catches, and Cait thinks she feels a slight nod. Maybe.
