They sat side by side, watching the sun set the sky ablaze as it descended to rest on Mount Carmel’s broad plateau, where Elijah had humiliated the prophets of Baal with fire from heaven.
“I was, yeah.”
“Well, that explains the arms.”
He tried to hide the smile that wanted to bloom at the obvious flirtation, keeping his eyes trained on the horizon. This woman had stayed the entire day, her eyes never wavering, had handed him food and a flask of water when the heat of the midday was at it’s peak. Now she was so close he could feel the heat of her body warming him, though they didn’t touch. That would be inappropriate.
“And I thought you were here for my teachings,” he teased, “not to sin with your eyes.”
Or
Vi left home to bring salvation to the people, but only one of his followers can really get it.
