Summary
“The nights are getting colder,” he landed on. “You’ll warm my bed from now on.”
Henry’s eyes widened, and he raised an eyebrow. He quickly glanced at Hanush, but his lack of reaction made Henry’s gaze return to Hans. The nobleman wasn’t even sure his uncle had heard them, staring at the fire absentmindedly as he was.
“What?” Henry repeated, this time dumbfounded.
“Well, it's your duty as my squire.”
Henry tilted his head as he continued to stare. Hans couldn’t hide his amusement at his confusion. As he looked into them, he felt stricken once again by just how blue his best friend’s eyes were. It was especially noticeable when his big, goofy eyes were held wide open as they were, matching the look of a begging puppy. Adorable.
“Sorry, my lord, but… Could you clarify what you mean by warming your bed?”

Summary
Henry stood once more and walked back to his own pack. “You’re very welcome. Is this your first long hike?”
“What gave it away?” Hans chuckled.
A playful smile grew on Henry's lips as he took in the whole of Hans. His oversized backpack, probably his general state as well. Hans didn’t even want to know how pathetically black and blue he looked.
“Nothing at all,” Henry teased. “But you do know you’re not allowed to hunt?”
Hans frowned before he realized Henry was referring to his bow. “Oh! No, it’s not for hunting. It’s to shoot at trees. I’m allowed, I checked.”
Henry raised an eyebrow. “And pray tell what have trees done to you?”
“Well, to be honest, they’ve given me a lot of bruises lately,” Hans teased. “We’ve got a bit of a toxic relationship.”
“I can see that," Henry laughed.

Summary
Water dripped from the hair plastered to their foreheads, barely noticed as it fell onto their already soaked shoulders. Hans’ face burned as he looked up to the small ceiling-like covering above them. “Well, better this than catch the cold.”
Henry’s laugh was warm against his cheek, “You look like a wet cat.”
Hans’ eyes snapped back to Henry. “You take that back right now, yokel.”
Henry’s smile lit the space between them and that familiar ache he had felt all day in his chest felt like stabbing pain. “It’s even worse when you’re mad. You get all puffed up.”
“I do not-” Hans shuffled where he stood, squaring his shoulders until he realized it only pushed him further into contact with Henry. “You smell like a wet dog.”
The corner of Henry’s lip twitched higher, “Yeah?”
Hans’ reply, meant to be stern and assured, came out as a softly spoken whisper, “Yeah.”
---The Devil's Den harbored many secrets, poorly kept and air-tight alike. Hans hoped every glance he spared to Henry was locked away in a little box inside his chest – hidden and far enough away that nobody could see how much he was choking on his own want.

Summary
Henry and Hans were set to marry before the former had even been born. The first meeting of six-year-old Henry and nine-year-old Hans didn’t go as planned, and so did the rest of their encounters during summers throughout the years - the two simply hated each other. Nothing could possibly make them tolerate each other or, God forbid, fall in love.
Could it?
The story is based on the song and the clip “This is my idea” from the movie The Swan Princess.
