Pete wondered if whatever instincts were hiding under his flesh would override the weird half-arguing state they had been in lately.
This was as close as they had been in months. Pete was so close to getting Patrick to let go, he could feel it. The whole situation sort of reminded Pete of coaxing a stray animal. Maybe that's just what he would have to do. Bait him with blood."
