Will contou para Mike que gostava dele, no caminho de volta do mundo invertido depois de derrotarem Vecna, em algum momento antes da explosão. Mas longe de ser uma declaração de amor, ele já avisou de primeira que queria superar esses sentimentos, para que pudessem seguir amigos.
Sem ter tido o espaço para entender o que os sentimentos de Will pudessem significar para ele, Mike acabou se tornando uma presença protetora para Will, ou como Max gosta de dizer "territorial". Entre muita conversa pela metade, e péssimas habilidades de comunicação, eles vão dar um jeito e de se encontrar. -

Somewhere on the trek back from the Upside Down, moments before the explosion, Will admitted to Mike that he had feelings for him. However, far from being a romantic declaration, Will immediately clarified that he intended to move past those feelings just so they could remain friends.
Denied the space to process what Will’s confession might actually mean to him, Mike has transformed into a fiercely protective presence—or, as Max likes to call it, 'territorial.' Amidst half-finished conversations and terrible communication skills, they will still have to find a way to each other.
