Summary
Es stands up straighter and marches towards Mikoto, their arm still held carefully by their side. They say something that has an air of authority and finality to it, but Mikoto can’t quite sort out the words through the soupy feeling in his brain. He shakes his head to try and clear it, like it’s water clogging his ears, but it only makes the room spin.
Es sighs again, and speaks too loudly. “I am going to be extracting your subconscious’ perception of your murder. You will be unconscious for the next few minutes.
“This shouldn’t hurt, but if it does…” they tap a particularly gnarly welt on their cheekbone; it’s already started to swell. “I honestly don’t care.”
—— ——
Mikoto’s song extraction goes about as well as his interrogation — that is to say, completely unexpectedly and then entirely off the rails. And everything after that? Well, let’s just say they really should ban the phase “it can’t possibly get worse than this” in Milgram. Because it can. And it always does.
(Covers from Mikoto’s song extraction through Kotoko’s attack.)
