Meeting their future-selves wasn’t supposed to feel this... wrong. It was supposed to be simple proof that they’d be fine without their fairies. But after yet another weird, loaded glance between future Dev and Hazel, regular Dev snapped.
“There!” He jabbed a finger between them. “That’s exactly what I’m talking about! You're both acting shifty, like you’re hiding something! Just admit it-you’re not even friends anymore, and you’re faking it to keep us from freaking out!”
"Alright!" Peri finally cracked, clapping his hands between them. “They’re here, alive—that’s all we need to know, right? This future stuff already has me on edge; let’s just wrap it up...”
Dev was about to protest again when he noticed Hazel freeze beside him.
Her eyes were caught on future Hazel's hand as it brushed a lock of hair behind her ear. “That finger… You’re…”
“What?” Dev followed her stare, confused, but Hazel’s expression said it all. She pointed between their future selves, her jaw dropping.
“Wait a second… are you guys married?!”
And with that, two rings and all hell broke loose.

Esther’s kneeling by the other side of the deer. “Doesn’t look like it was dragged here. And these claw marks are deep. Deeper than Abaddon can make with his clipped nails…”
