there are three things william charles patrick smith is sure of. the first is that he was made for hockey. the second is that he was born to love macklin celebrini. the third is that the second of those things will one day lead him down into the pits of hell.

Summary
Mack accidentally sends himself into a full emotional breakdown after imagining Will someday having a wife, a house, a dog, a whole future that doesn’t include him.
------
It starts with a dumb joke between him and Dickie. Dickie told him something he found so stupid, stupid enough that he took the bet, don’t talk to Will or contact him at all in any way for one day. Just one day. It should have been easy, but Mack almost lost his mind when he realized the first person he contacted every day was Will. Not being able to tell Will he was back almost made him pay the bet to Dickie immediately.

Summary
They were both disappointed when they found out they wouldn’t be on the same team for the scrimmage.
Still, there was something fun about knowing this would probably be the last time they played against each other instead of alongside each other.
At least for now.
When they lined up for the opening faceoff, Mack couldn’t stop the smile tugging at his mouth.

Summary
Most of the time, it’s just Will dealing with Mack being a brat. He laughs it off or finds some way to make Mack laugh too. They bounce back from every stupid fight about nothing and move on with their lives.
Usually, it’s stupid stuff about nothing.
Today’s fight is just as stupid.
But Will is not in the mood to entertain Mack this time, even if he keeps reminding himself Mack just got back from a dental appointment to fix the teeth he chipped taking a puck straight to the mouth during a game. He has every right to be miserable.Bookmarked by mwwwwwm

Summary
If Will were here, things would be different. Mack still wouldn’t have looked at the menu, but Will would’ve known what he wanted. Mack wouldn’t have had to talk to the waiter, instead leaving it all up to Will, who always knew exactly what was best for Mack.
If Will were here, Macklin would be eating a regular chicken parm right now, while stealing some bites from Will’s plate. They would order lava cakes afterwards, getting two spoons and one plate and a side of vanilla ice cream on the side.
Mack would be laughing the whole time, actually talking and engaging. Talking with his hands. Forgetting to sit up straight. Forgetting to monitor every bite. He wouldn’t be waiting for approval.
But Will isn’t here.
--
Macklin Celebrini has spent his whole life doing things the right way: eating the right foods, making the right choices, saying the right things. At family dinners, he doesn’t even look at the menu anymore. He looks at his dad. But when Will is around, things shift.
