ugh i LOVE the dynamic and the tension here, one of the best preserved ones, and definitely one of my favourite ones. the characters and their interactions are so well written i don’t even care we didn’t get smut in the end. but the author is so good at writing the tension bw the characters, i love the kind of fics that make my heart swell up and flutter with emotions every now and then regardless of the genre they’re writing, and this is it. It was so satisfying to read, and I want to read it for the first time, when i was obsessed with syongseok, again so bad.

the only fic in this tag (not exaggerating), but it makes up for it. having this one fic, with how well written and well researched it is, is so much better than having a hundred mid fics. i think that the author is a very niche one and i don’t even recognize some of the other people they’ve written for, which makes me so glad to be able to read this fic. it’s almost sad that this is so underrated, BUT also kind of satisfying.

hate to admit that i like this fic as much as i do. it’s less about the spanking (sure) but more about the dynamic that’s captured so rawly. I must have read this fic half a dozen times but it never gets old. I think I don’t fully understand it, and don’t think I ever will. it’s almost poetic. this is so them, and it feels so real, even if it isn’t. I feel that’s what makes the hurt solidify. The pain isn’t a big, explicit part of this fic, but you can almost sense it in all corners of it, it’s as if the characters are dancing around the hurt, and it makes you think about how long they’ll do that. It’s something bigger than this fic, bigger than the characters. I feel like what makes this stand out, more than the things said, are the things that remain unsaid, and how the writing takes you through it all. I don’t know if it’s intentional, but it’s truly exceptional how every single word in this fic makes you feel an emotion bigger than itself, an emotion that the characters would never face head on. I love love love the writing, the expression, the metaphors, and especially how well preserved the dynamic is: the banter, the avoidance, everything.

the very first syongseok fic i read when i stomped over here on ao3 and turned on the angst filter in the jung sungchan/song eunseok tag. ugh the angst is so well written it hits you in the face out of nowhere, it’s so interwoven, almost as if the hurt and angst is inherent to the story (it is). I’m not sure if eunseok ended up pulling sungchan into his orbit but he sure pulled me in, and this solidified a part of eunseok’s head canon for me. I also love-hate the ending, even forgot it when I came for rereads, but just as the angst, it’s also essential to the story & it’s just not the same without it.

literally the most perfect syongseok fic ever??? the tension, the humor, and the yearning. the essence of their dynamic is so well-captured in this one, it was so fun to read. And as someone who doesn’t like waiting on updates, i still did. the setting and the other characters are the cherry on top, they’re written so well (most of them). i really wish we’d get a spin off or a bonus chapter after they get together to make up for all of the back and forth in the fic.
