He missed the Catalonian sun in moments like this. It seemed like someone else’s life now, or something he only saw in a movie – rushing to the morning lecture wearing one of Pep’s turtlenecks because he didn’t have time to get back to his dorm room and the morning air was still a bit too chilly for him to wear the light shirt he arrived in the night before; armed with a scrappy old notebook and exactly one pen that he hoped would last through the notes-taking; nursing a slight hangover and hoping one of his classmates would have a chewing gum so he would get rid of the aftertaste of wine in his mouth.
Apart from the nice weather, Barcelona never grew onto him. He never quite fit there. This was his home, the fields, the forests, the mountains, the proximity to the ocean with the coast formed by the wooden platforms for fishing boats leading into the sea.
