The simple problem is that people like Chuuya, who are perfect and normal, don’t need Dazai’s selfish desire to come crashing into their lives and destroy them. Dazai knows he will do this to Chuuya. He doesn’t want to. It’s inevitable, though. Dazai will ultimately mar Chuuya’s perfection.
But Dazai wants this happiness he does not deserve so terribly. He yearns for it. At times like these where the night is quiet and dark and warm with Chuuya’s body at his side, it feels as if he might be torn in two with the sheer volume of his hunger for what he will never have.
