“Athena, I’m fi—”
“No, you’re not!” she snapped, her shout punctuated by hand smacking countertop. “Your best friend died two weeks ago and you happen to knock yourself out cold, alone on a weekend? Apollo—”
“It hasn’t been two weeks!” he shouted.
She flinched.
“It’s been twelve days!” He inhaled slowly, gaze fixed on the eggs. “Twelve days,” he repeated. His voice was flat; a lifeless monotone concealing the battlefield of writhing emotions beneath. Anger grappled with overwhelming despair. Both endeavored only to defeat the other and claim their victory, the grand prize.
Both lost.
The truths behind the murder of Clay Terran and the UR-1 Incident were revealed on December 20th. One week later, on December 27th, 2027, it became apparent that the aftermath of the cases was unresolved, that death had taken more than a fledgling astronaut.
Athena Cykes was determined to resolve the aftermath, no matter how tumultuous the road to resolution; whether Apollo Justice was willing to accept it or not.
