Summary
Suho sticks his hand out. Sieun stares at it like inlaid into his palm is something malignant.
Your mother can save me, Suho doesn’t say. You’re the door. I just have to get you to open.
He is so pretty it hurts. That will help.
“Wow,” Suho says, intonation painfully flat. “You are so gorgeous.”
Baku winces.
Or: Suho is terminally ill. Yeon Sieun’s mother is the only one who can cut it out of him. Naturally, he asks her son out.

Continuation from Ep8
BaekJin and Baku centric“I would’ve left all of it, Baku. If you had just asked. If you had just looked at me one more time like you used to. I would’ve burned the Union to the ground with my own hands.”
He gasped, curling in on himself, his body a knot of pain and regret.
“But I didn’t know how to ask. I didn’t know how to be soft. I didn’t know how to be loved.”
He remembered that little boy—the one hiding in a corner, fists clenched, heart begging. The one who flinched every time someone raised their voice. The one who learned that the only way to not be hurt was to hurt first.
His voice cracked.
“No one ever stayed for me.”
Another sob. Sharp. Gasping.
“I just wanted someone to stay. Just once.”

Summary
“You look worse than I remember,” Humin muttered, not looking at him.
Baekjin cracked a bitter laugh, dry and empty. “Yeah. Death’ll do that to you.”
Humin didn’t laugh.
“Why now?” he asked, his voice quieter.
Baekjin’s eyes flicked to him, then dropped. “I thought watching you was enough,” he said. “That protecting you meant staying gone.”
