Summary
For the past three years Shibuya has been under a strict quarantine where no one can get in besides the military. Since the day that everyone evacuated, Hatsune Miku has disappeared from the world with statements from Crypton Future Media and the idol group they manage. However, Miku's partner of the time, Kasane Teto, has for the most part disappeared from general media. Quitting her idol career and moving in with Gumi as she recovers.
When Shibuya eventually reopens to the general public without any long-term effects on the world, Teto moves into an apartment in the Harajuku area (Shibuya). And finally, it appears the past three years of grief are over. Just not by conventional means.

Out of all the things these two robots could have been doing, they chose to spend their time exploring each others' bodies in a cheap imitation of sex. They should have been singing together like they were made to be. Recording song after song, imitating the human emotion they never could quite grasp.
Even though that was supposed to be all there was to it, it seemed that, if your perspective was warped enough, even code could simulate a feeling with enough specificity to feel authentic to the program running it.
