    Summary

For V, loneliness is an insidious corruption, an endless sickness. For Johnny, loneliness is a way of life, a deliberate method of self preservation. In the aftermath of an unimaginable collision, two people with nothing left to lose find themselves clinging to one another for salvation. For them, deliverance and desire are two sides of the same coin; a coin they are both watching spin, waiting to see how it falls.

    Summary

Eight years have passed since Blackwater, Saint Denis, and the fall of the van der Linde gang. The survivors are trying to make a life for themselves – some moving on to nobler pursuits, some circling back like carrion birds to the scores they left behind.

And outside a town called Purgatory, West Elizabeth, a man wakes up without a scrap of memory or a name, haunted by a black wolf and a golden stag.

    Summary

A big, broad-shouldered man came through the door, the look of a long-haul trucker hanging around him like a ratty coat. He was wearing old oil-stained jeans and a frayed flannel shirt thrown over a white t-shirt, his scuffed boots peeling up at the toes with age.

He had the air of a man who’d reached the end of his rope. He had a battered wide-brimmed hat pulled low to cover his long, frazzled hair, half of which was scraped back into a loose tail. He had dark hair and dark skin and dark eyes that were framed by the deep-set bruises Arthur only ever saw on long-haulers and cattlemen, the marks of too many nights at the wheel or in the saddle, the normal rhythms of life stretched out and pulling at the seams.

The feller was handsome. Arthur noticed that as an afterthought, his breath catching in his chest. Under the bruises and the loose strands of hair, the feller was handsome. His eyes were bright and keen.

“Uh,” said Arthur, caught flat-footed by the unanticipated surge of attraction tightening his belly.  “Hi.”

The feller looked Arthur dead in the eye. “I need all of the caramel sauce that you have,” he said.

(or, a coffee shop au. yeah. i know.)

    Summary

Arthur let himself soften, turned to keep his eyes on the fire that glowed warm against the biting cold of the morning. “I know,” He said. “Things ain’t good for us right now, but… it ain’t safe. You know what the O’Driscolls are like, for folk like me.”

“I’ve watched you kill, Arthur,” Said Pearson, and there was a flicker of that old fear deep in his eyes, never quite gone away. The smartest part of him still that blustering navy man taking command of the cooking to hide how terrified he was of them. Fear that was faint, but still sour, on the still air. “I’ve seen what you do to idiots who pick fights with us. You werewolves aren’t that fragile.”

“We ain’t that strong, neither,” Arthur told him.

The Pinkertons have been lost in the snow, and the law has bigger game on its mind. The O'Driscolls aren't as easy to lose.

    Summary

John doesn’t understand, but he nods anyway. Another breeze blows through the air, and he shivers without meaning to. The ground is ice-cold against his bare feet. It’s fine, though--he’s used to it.

Suddenly there’s a warm weight on his head, and he reaches up to feel leather and rope. It’s a hat, worn and soft with age. He looks at Arthur, whose head is now uncovered.

“Keep it for the night, kid,” he says. There’s a faint smile on his face. “That little mop of hair ain’t gonna keep you warm.”
