Summary
Kougami and Makishima navigate through their unlikely friendship, if they can even call it that. At the same time, Makishima ventures into the behind-the-scenes of Division One's next case, one that once again makes him question the nature of both people's hearts and free will, one that makes him question if the fight's all been worth it.
(Takes place between PP3 episodes 3-4. Please mind the tags for the last chapter.)

Summary
Makishima Shogo is above emotions. Regardless if it's as a ruler or a pawn, he shall play the game of life he loves so much with the same tenacity, with the same goal. But perhaps he may have grown weary, and there are days where the mask he wears proudly, simply falls off.
Kougami Shinya realizes that perhaps it's easier to face the mask and ignore what's underneath, because what stares back may be a reflection that he desperately doesn't wish to see.

Une never went out drinking as a cadet on account of being fourteen at the time, while Noin became an instructor after graduation and never left the cadets behind. Their stories couldn’t be more different, and yet here they are, sitting at the same bar.

Summary
This sequence of character studies, all written with a wingtober2025 prompt in mind, was originally conceived as a bunch of one-shots exploring how the various Frozen Teardrop babies came to be. As I went along, it also became a (very FT canon-divergent) origin story for the Preventers’ nanotech research programme.
