Oscar is used to the noise, the voices, the music on repeat. It’s the same every night. He moves unnoticed among the crowd, hides on the balcony and waits for the countdown that will free him – 3, 2, 1, happy New Year, and all of this is over. Until the next night, of course.
He’s used to wasting time away in a corner, praying for time to go faster and save him from his misery. But today, there’s a pair of blue green eyes fixed on him, curious.
“Not enjoying the party?”
Oscar is too shocked to pretend, has forgotten what it feels like to be known. His next sentence escapes his lips before he can stop it, before it registers how fucking weird it sounds.
“You can see me?”
or: oscar is cursed to live only one night a year, new year’s eve. the years pass him by and he stays unsubstantial, until one day someone looks at him and sees him.

Summary
Oscar carefully turns back to one of the mirrors that make up the sides of the elevator and sees that his side looks a lot more aggravated than it did just a half hour earlier. The previously fading yellow and purple have reverted back to their more vibrant shades they’d been a few weeks ago. They’re accompanied by more red inflammation.
“Shit,” he whispers under his breath.
“Yes! Shit is right! You’re coming to my room and I’m getting you ice right now,” Lando says exasperatedly just as the elevator reaches their floor.or
During a padel game, Oscar takes a serve to his broken rib and injures himself more. Lando finds him after and takes him back to his hotel room to take care of him.

Summary
Lando and Oscar have been roommates for two years and are in tune with each other. After a little miscommunication at one of Oscar's games, where Lando wears a skirt and gets harassed by some drunks and is saved by Oscar, Oscar ignores Lando in favor of going to a party. Expecting Lando to want to end their friendship, Oscar is up for a surprise when he returns home drunk in the middle of the night with a crying Lando.
