“What are you doing?” he wants to know but Hizashi thinks he doesn’t have to explain himself as he gathers Shouta’s hair in his hand, smoothing it away from his face and tying it all up in a ponytail.
“Doing us both a favour,” Hizashi says with a cheeky smile but he was not prepared for the way Shouta’s face falls and his hands hang empty and uselessly in the air when Shouta moves out of his reach.
“Don’t,” Shouta mutters, reaching up to undo the ponytail and almost desperately tugs on his bangs to make them fall into his face again.
“Shou, what—” Hizashi wants to ask but Shouta leans back over the paper he needs to grade, his face closed off and Hizashi has known him long enough to understand that he doesn’t want to talk about it.
Hizashi has no idea at all what the hell is going on right now, but he’s not in the mood to fight, which this would undoubtedly turn into should he press and so he gently and carefully puts a hand to Shouta’s back.
“Alright,” he softly says, willing to give Shouta this for now, but he files it away, ready to inspect this at a later date.
For now, he’s just relieved when Shouta leans into his hand, even though he doesn’t look at him again.

"You did this to yourself," Hitoshi's foster father says, almost friendly, wriggling his fingers in a clear threat at Hitoshi. "And this will be the perfect punishment for you. But don't worry; I'll undo it once I'm back on Monday."
"No, don't," Hitoshi tries again, pressing himself further into the corner as if that could help him.
But the thought of being under his foster father's quirk for days has Hitoshi desperate in ways he has never been before and he just knows that death would be kinder than this. Hitoshi had to endure it for hours in the past and even that was enough to drive him slightly mad.
If he stays under the influence for three days he won't make it out sane, he just knows it.

Summary
Shouta is repeatedly clenching and unclenching his hands, tension high in his shoulders and he wishes they could break out into a full on sprint. But they are not after a villain, it's not the middle of the night and they are already attracting enough attention as it is, being in their full hero outfit in a neighbourhood that usually doesn't see many heroes.
So Shouta forces himself to walk calmly and evenly but it's hard.
He knows Hizashi is struggling just as much as he is, because he's quiet at his side, worryingly so, and there is nothing Shouta can do to help, not with how high-strung he himself is.
But the fact is, Hitoshi hasn't been to school in two days, he missed Friday and Monday, and therefore two days of training as well without so much as a 'Sorry'. Neither he nor his guardians contacted Shouta or the school and they couldn't be reached either.
It's beyond worrying and exactly the reason Hizashi and he are making a house visit right now.

"Goooooood morning!" Hizashi says, and even though he's still loud, it's clear that he's regulating himself, no doubt already clued in to the fact that Shouta is not feeling too well right about now, because that's just how well Hizashi knows him.
And Shouta is still so busy biting back all those words he really wants to say, is so busy trying to not let Hizashi know, is busy fighting all those feelings inside of himself that he does the single most stupid thing he can think of.
He blames Hizashi for it.
Only for a moment, just a spare thought, floating through his brain for no longer than a second, but it's there and his mouth works all on its own.
"Can you fucking stop?" he roughly says and Hizashi freezes where he stands.

Hizashi sounds timid in a way Shouta hasn't often heard him before and that alone is reason enough for him to wake up fully.
"You're so needy," the voice goes on and Shouta finally places it as Vlad King's. "Not everyone in the room needs to know that you're there. Can't you enter like a normal person? Why do you always need to have all the attention on you?"

"No, please!" he immediately calls out, scrambling on his knees and shuffling closer to the torn piece in front of him. "No, no no no no no!" he then chants as he reaches out with shaking hands, uncaring of the pain still pulsing in his wrist.
Hitoshi forces himself to look up but as soon as he sees the rest of the capture weapon still wrapped around the beam he feels sick enough that for a terrifying moment he fears he's going to throw up.
He tore it. He tore Aizawa's old capture weapon that he entrusted to Hitoshi so he could learn.
Hitoshi starts to shake all over, cold panic gripping him and for a moment he doesn't know what to do, doesn't know how to go on from here on out and then everything becomes startlingly clear.
His life's over.

Shouta has been on the same patrol route for years, so when he lands on a roof and he sees something moving in the corner of his eyes, he's instantly alert.
No one is ever up on that roof, it's why Shouta chose it as one of his vantage points so to see a faintly human shape in a corner is concerning. Especially since the door leading up to the roof is still busted, from what Shouta can see in the dark.
"Hello?" he calls out, his hands tightening around his capture weapon and he hears another shuffle before someone slowly steps away from the dark corner.
"Who are you?" Shouta demands to know even before he gets a good look at the other's face and what he sees brings him up short.
It's a child, barely even a teenager, maybe twelve or thirteen if Shouta had to guess and there's a purpling bruise on his cheek.

"Tada!" Nemuri yells out and brandishes the thing at him, almost shoving it into his face and Shouta jerks back but he's too slow.
He gets a face-full of something soft and it's surprising enough that he freezes in confusion, allowing Nemuri to lower the thing and he finally gets a good look at it.
It's one of the most cursed Present Mic plushies Shouta has ever seen, the face grotesque even behind the badly made glasses, the hair a complete mess, the costume barely recognisable as that, and Shouta is instantly in love.
"Nemuri—" he starts to say, his hands already going out to take the plushie from her, because she did say she brought it for him but before he can even make contact a piercing yell rings through the room.
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

The first time had been so easy, and probably a long time coming if Shouta were honest with himself. They’d both gotten ridiculously shitfaced and were brushing shoulders the whole night. Hizashi was a touchy drunk, and Shouta a sleepy one, constantly leaning into the blond and savoring the feeling of his arm across his shoulders. It’d only taken Hizashi’s suggestively placed hand high on his thigh, and his own heated gaze meeting green eyes for them to stumble from the bar together.
Shouta thinks Hizashi wants to be friends with benefits. Hizashi thinks Shouta will only have sex with him while drunk. Neither realizes the other is in love with them.

It never bodes well to get home visits from anyone and least of all in the middle of the night from someone who clearly knows he's there and Shouta only very reluctantly opens the door.
On the other side is an unremarkable looking man; so unremarkable in fact that it's setting off all kinds of alarm bells in his head. He's wearing a suit, just fitted well enough to not make him look sloppy or too sharp and Shouta is not even going to think about the fact that there's a child as well.
He's not going to think about that at all, in fact, even though the purple hair is hard to ignore.

Hitoshi is aware of the glances he gets throughout the day. It’s unavoidable with the purple bruise right there on his chin, but it’s not as if he could have hid that. Predictably, no one asks him about it. It’s not as if he’s on speaking terms with any of his classmates either, so of course no one would bring up the glaring red flag.
A small part of Hitoshi had hoped that maybe U.A. and all the aspiring heroes going there would be different, but it was of course foolish of him to hope. Not even the established heroes had offered their help and with All Might teaching as well now, it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise. Hitoshi had learned his lesson in that regard early.
Especially when he saw how they treated the winner of the Sports Festival.
So he really didn't expect anything, not even when he blows up into Aizawa's and Mic's face and least of all he expected to be arrested.

Because--Shouta was quite literally seeing red--because strapped to his students’ face was an honest to god muzzle. A fucking muzzle.
Shinsou finally lifted his head as he paused just behind Kazuto’s shoulder and his eyes widened as he took in the sight of his two teachers standing before him. Shouta watched as his puffy and red-ringed gaze filled with something that almost, if Shouta didn’t know any better, looked like fear.

Eri and Hitoshi owned his heart even though theirs lied with his husband. He'd been prepared for it, and it didn't bother him.
He'd known. It shouldn't have hurt. Yet, when he found it thrown back in his face while simply making his kids dinner, Hizashi didn't expect it.
