Summary
Something in Xue Yang tells him to stop, some small shred of self restraint keeps him from going further as the blood drips from his sword. He feels it warm on his skin from where it’s spattered against his arm. Jiangzai’s blade drips the familiar crimson as it’s done dozens of times before, but tonight an arm is all he takes, though a part of him screams to take more. To shed more blood, but he’s quickly chased out before those parts of his urges can come to fruition. Revenge seemed so sweet in the beginning, now he can’t help but feel underwhelmed. Everything he’s done has led up to this moment, so why does he feel so empty?
After he escapes persecution, heavily injured and on the brink of death, the roads ahead of him are blurred and the paths he has yet to take have twisted. Will he die in these tall grasses he’s found himself collapsed in, or will fate take pity on him just this once?
