Summary
Dazai was expecting anger. He had steeled himself to endure the beating of a life time. He was ready to bleed, to suffer and then explain. He was ready for anything, he thought.
But Chuuya's empty stare and confused expression cleared the brunette’s mind of all that he has planned to say. It truly seemed that the redhead had never expected for this moment to come.
This Chuuya was so painfully unfamiliar to Dazai that it made their separation all so much more apparent.
The silence stretched and Chuuya only seemed to slip back into his mind again. Dazai felt choked with concern. Since when had the firecracker of a person ever been silent with Dazai.
Since when could Dazai no longer predict what the redhead would do? He was so sure that the smaller man would scream, maybe even cry if he truly was upset. But the silence was never a possibility to Dazai.
Chuuya’s eyes seemed..scared.
AKA, Dazai comes back and severely underestimated the damage of him leaving chuuya behind.

Summary
Chuuya wonders, wonders about a tale he once heard, wonders about Penelope of Ithaca, about how she felt while waiting for darling Odysseus to return to her side. Would he feel the same, so lonely, so little, cast away in the dark shadows of the mafia, waiting, wondering, worrying for Dazai to return? He wonders if Dazai will be pressed against his side once more, the way the taller man seems to press his fingers into his waist, the way his touch leaves bare traces of hot heavy hellish magic all across his body.
Hopes are unnecessary. Odysseus returned with a babe and a new son, and within murderous rage, was killed by the child produced through infidelity. Hopes will only be crushed. Chuuya knew he would never see Dazai again.
