Someone who doesn't abuse him or hurt him or treat him like shit, who actually thinks Katsuki's worth something. It's the best life he could hope for. So why can't he just be happy?
He's trying so hard to stay stable. But he knows he's broken. There's a rotten part of him, festering deep inside his chest, full of smoke and fire and rusty staples. Nothing can heal that.

Katsuki is having trouble sleeping. His brain is always churning and telling him he's no good and all he does is fuck up, that he's worthless and useless and falling behind everyone else. But he has someone on speed dial who can shut his brain up. So what if that person is a Villain with blood at the corner of his mouth and sulphur on his breath? It works. He helps Katsuki sleep.
He's got it all under control. He doesn't need Deku constantly talking to him, asking him if anything's wrong, pointing out the bruises on his skin, saying that he's changing. He doesn't need any of that bullshit. He knows what he's doing. He's going to bring down the League of Villains by himself, without any help. And in the meantime, he'll use Dabi to silence his brain.
He's fine.
