It’s not like Luke doesn’t interact with him on stage. He does it more than Michael thought he would, if he’s honest, and every time he has to fight back the absolute, love-sick, embarrassing smile tugging at his lips. Sometimes he was irrationally afraid that the microphones would pick up on his heartbeat every time Luke was near.
And yet, in Valencia, it wasn’t enough. In Valencia, Michael wished he was the one on his knees looking up at Luke like he does behind closed doors and curtains pulled shut. He wished for Luke to sing someone call the guitarist and to wink at him before jumping off to finish the song.
