Summary
No one should do Romeo and Juliet anymore. It wasn’t romantic. It was stupid. Forbidden love, love at first sight, blah blah blah, they DIED. Everyone seemed to forget they DIED. It was STUPID. Shakespeare was obsolete and everyone should get over it.
“So what you’re saying is, you want Shi Qingxuan to be Juliet and for you to be Romeo.” Hua Cheng smiled his signature smirk.
~~~
He Xuan's revenge plans go haywire when he plays Romeo to Shi Qingxuan's Juliet.
Summary
Tired of being hit on, Lu Guang embarks on a fake relationship with Cheng Xiaoshi - all while investigating a kidnapping ring, lying to everyone they know, and trying to Make More Money™.
(A.K.A. just another typical day at the photo studio.)
-- In which they’re both far too enthusiastic about pretend-dating, and the line between reality and fiction gets blurred
Summary
Cheng Xiaoshi spends the next several minutes just staring at the photograph, his finger running gently down the curve of Lu Guang's sunlit features. His mother's voice sounds from the back of his head.
The photograph is a window into the photographer's soul. Look, baobei, what does this photo tell you about the person who took it? What emotions do they feel?
Attraction. Longing. Desire. It might as well be written in Sharpie over Lu Guang's face, big bold characters in Cheng Xiaoshi's handwriting.
Fuck. He really has been blind.
Over the course of a year, Cheng Xiaoshi learns to see what's been right in front of him this entire time. (Or, familiarity as a love language.)
"That cough still sounds awful...Did you take any cold medicine?"
"Don’t need to, I don’t have a- *cough cough cough cough*"
"Dunno man, sounds like a cold..."
"No, it’s not. And we are too broke for cold medicine."
"I think it’s very inspiring that you believe pure denial can conquer the common cold. I’ll take a leaf out of your book when I inevitably catch it. "
"Idiots can’t catch colds."When Lu Guang comes down with pneumonia, the fever dreams have him convinced he's drowning, and Cheng Xiaoshi would do anything to make him feel better.
"Gege." Hua Cheng cupped his cheek as he looked at him with heated intent. "Let me take you to bed."
"To sleep?" he asked glibly.
Xie Lian was certain Hua Cheng did not mean to sleep.
