Summary
Mariana Garcia should not be alive.
She should be in the ground at the junkyard where Badger shot her. She should be dead.
But she wasn’t. She was alive and (relatively, for being shot just a few days ago) well, and a new group took her in and nursed her back to health. Of course, she didn’t have her left eye anymore, but it’s better than being a muerto, right? Whether she just struck an 18 carat vein of good luck, or she’s on borrowed time, it doesn’t matter. What matters is her getting back to Javi. Back to Gabe and Kate. Maybe even making a couple new friends, and taking down a corrupt regime with the help of her family.
Who knows? She might just fuck around and find something to live for other than surviving; a purpose in life. Some adults didn’t have that even before the apocalypse.
This is the story of what could've been — a second chance for Mariana Garcia in this unforgiving world.
