When Dumbledore receives an invitation to a masquerade ball, he sees his chance. He is sure: He won’t be the only powerful wizard hiding behind a mask.
And an old friend, foe, or ex-lover of his has always loved infiltrating society pretending to be someone else. Pretending not to be a wanted criminal (although he’d recently been freed from all accusations).
However, he knows exactly how brittle his emotional defence is—and how quickly he can be tempted.
Or: Dumbledore meets his ex-husband. He has a plan. He is also a fool.
