Letting out a loud, light-hearted laugh, Kara glanced back over her shoulder and raised her eyebrows as she leant down and opened the door to the freezer. Stooping to pull out a bag of peas, she slammed the door shut and grabbed a clean dish towel from a drawer and wrapped the frozen vegetables inside.
“Well, seeing as I’m all you have, does it really matter?”
Face softening with faint amusement, Lena shrugged indifferently, “not really. I’d like to at least be able to prepare myself for it, though. I’m not a big fan of surprises.”

“Why does she get to touch you like that?” Kara asked when she could no longer hold the drunk-induced words back.
“Hmm?” Lena hummed, raising an eyebrow curiously as she tucked the duvet in around Kara’s heavy-limbed form, “Who gets to touch me like what?”
Kara pursed her lips, looking into the far corner of her room as she muttered darkly, “Andrea…”
Lena froze for a painful beat, and Kara was suddenly acutely aware of how her eardrums throbbed with the remnant bass of the club. Lena slowly pulled away standing up to her full height as she peered down at Kara, her expression inscrutable.
“Because she asked, because she showed interest.” Lena said eventually, the words clipped and sharp. “You’ve never even tried to touch me like that. Never given any indication that you would want to…”

Andrea is still angry about their break up and her brother -the most hated man everywhere- has his trial coming up in a few months. A trial she will have to give evidence at. Lena would like nothing more than to disappear until it’s all over. But then she accidentally gets the attention of Kara Danvers, and she decides maybe the next few months might not be so awful.
Kara is shocked when she sees the pianist in the video and even more so when she gets a reply. It’s no surprise to her when she quickly finds herself falling for more than just Lena’s musical talents. If only her friends and everyone else could see that Lena is nothing like her brother, and if only Lena could see she is more than just what her talent can offer the world.

The phrase feel your body said in Kara’s voice rattles around in Lena’s head like a pinball machine, but she manages to shrug her sweater off and throw it somewhere behind them before she can second-guess herself. Kara is looking comfortable in a loose white t-shirt, and when she takes Lena by the waist and puts Lena’s hand on her shoulder the texture of it is light and soft.
“Let’s start from square one,” Kara says, so kindly that her next words take a few seconds to register in Lena’s brain. She tightens her grip on Lena’s waist, and says with full confidence:
“Dancing is a lot like sex.”

Lena's eyes are a little hazy from the alcohol she and Nia had been steadily consuming until Brainy and Kara had cut them off. She tilts her head, and those seafoam eyes soften and Kara's heart flutters.
They've been doing this a lot lately, this silence, observing the other. Kara supposes that it comes with this new territory, of allowing the other to see the vulnerable parts of them.
But Kara's eyes dip, gets stuck on the sweatshirt, on the way it hugs Lena's chest and leaves her legs exposed and her heart clatters its approval. Lena's expression turns coy and her shin rubs against Kara's and the sensation draws a shuddering breath from Kara's lips - that's never really happened before.
