He knew it, could almost name it, but every time he got too close to labeling that dark little patch in his heart, the darkness would leap up and cling to his reason with inky tendrils. “It’s for her own good! Her body is different, she can’t do things like everyone else! No one else can treat her like I do! What if she got hurt while I wasn’t around?
